Topic: Politics of Free Media and Public Sentiment

Despite the emergence of a “Naya Pakistan”, the morale of its people is far from optimistic. With growing skepticism over human-rights abuses in Northern Pakistan and Balochistan, the strengthening of financial ties with Saudi Arabia that has raised eyebrows, and the consistent growth in rates of unemployment and poverty – the public demands action that is swift, honest, and just. The duty of assisting the people beyond this pessimism lies in the hands of policy-makers, and the entities that give them a voice. However, institutions that regulate the media are using their legitimacy as a mask to cover up a plethora of disenchantments caused by psychological manipulation Hence, it is up to you – the ministers, agencies and reporters of this board – to decide the fate of the country. Is the way the news portrayed in the modern-day representative? Or, is it part of an elaborate scheme by agency biases, to feed into propaganda? The time is nigh to decide Pakistan’s fate – one headline at a time.
